My daily must do’s….

Running a business and with two kids (Gabriel 6 and Noah 3), each day can look very different!

I try not to have nonnegotiables in my life (feels like another item on my todo list) but 10 minutes free journaling in the morning and meditation of some sort happens every day for me.

It might be a full 30 minutes before the boys wake up or 5 minutes in the car at school pick up. The days that seem to get away from me are the one where I don’t do these things.

Something on your bucket list…

At the start of each year I set a few big intentions rather than have a lifelong bucket list. I know that I’ll never take any action if it’s projected so far ahead but having a few hand picked goals to aim for each year gives me the momentum I need to make it a reality!

This year the theme has been trying new things. The big one is running my first marathon in October. It feels like a real stretch for me but I’m loving the physical and mental challenge. (Getting up at 5:30am to run in the cold and dark is not something I’d ever choose to do!)

Can’t live without make up/beauty products…

I like to keep it simple when it comes to make up and skin care. My must haves are organic rosehip oil (loving RosehipPLUS at the mo’), Lancome Grandiose mascara, Benefit You Rebel tinted moisturiser.

A strength of mine…

Coming up with fresh outofthe box ideas. Whether it’s with clients on a design project, a business idea with my mentor clients or our next family holiday I love coming up with a new and exciting perspective.

I always avoid…

Getting busy. It feels like the goto response at times for most of us. How has your week been? Oh, you know, busy. I’ve gotten really good and saying no. When I feel my schedule getting too full, it feels so empowering to gracefully decline the invitation. I’ll always choose less over more.

Fav Insta/Twitter account you follow?

I love Russell Brand insta vids (@trewrussellbrand), Garance Dore’s illustrations and todiefor life with the ‘fash pack’ (@garancedore) and Gabby Bernstein’s spirit junkie inspo… (@gabbybernstein)

What advice would you tell your 18y/old self…

Stop listening to other people. You got this. You know what feels right. It’s ok if it doesn’t look like other people idea of what you should do.

Recipe for success – Your 3 main ingredients?

Equal parts clarity, inspired action and courage. Oh with a sprinkling of trust.

Your personal indulgence or obsession?

I have a soak in the tub almost every night after dinner. It’s the perfect way to transition from work mode to relaxation which can be especially hard when you work at home.

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Taking inspired baby steps every day leads to quantum leaps. It’s amazing the progress and momentum that happens when you keep showing up in little but intentional ways.

Your game changing moment?

Oh there’s been a few! But choosing to move to New York when I was 17 most certainly changed the trajectory of my life forever.

Books on your nightstand?

At the moment it’s Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, Revolution by Russell Brand, How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are and The Goldfinch by Donna Tarte. I like to mix it up!

Biggest myth about success busted…

The notion of the overnight success. There really is no such thing. It might seem like they’ve gone stratospheric in a heartbeat but there’s undoubtedly a whole heap of trial, error and course corrections that’s happened to get them there.

A secret about your journey to share…

I was given a little nudge (read kick in the arse!) to start my own business back in 2009 when I was made redundant from my full time graphic design position. Gabriel was only 5 months old and it was such a stressful time.

Looking back, I honestly don’t think I would ever have made the leap had it been left up to me.

But the Universe had a bigger plan for me. What can look like a nightmare can be the biggest blessing in reflection.
